The Barred spiral galaxy NGC 4731 lies some 65 million light-years away from us, whilst the individual spiked stars spiky stars in the image are much closer, within our own Milky Way galaxy. Comprising approximately possibly up to 2000 member galaxies, this cluster forms the heart of the larger Virgo Super cluster.
