Dust in space interspersed with blue reflection and red emission nebulae, to me forms the most intriguing of shapes to image, and the Corona Australis molecular complex does not disappoint in this regard. The dust field seen in the image is a result of a 4 panel mosaic imaged on a widefield telescope and spans nearly 10° in space, or nearly 20 moons across which is huge by astronomical standards. Blue reflection nebula abound in the region as well as a few emission nebula. The dark skies of Chile and the light hoover that is the Takahashi E160ed made short work of getting a nice exposure on this fascinating shape, which does resemble a cosmic goat….
