NGC 6888, also known as the Crescent Nebula is an oft imaged target and a favorite of most astrophotographers. Oxygen atoms produce the blue-green hue that seems to enshroud the detailed folds and filaments while the intense red hues are produced by Hydrogen atoms, making it a pleasing target. Wolf-Rayet star, WR 136, is NGC 6888's central star and will ultimately go supernova in a spectacular explosion. NGC 6888 lies in the Cygnus constellation and is about 5000 light years away from us and spans about 25 light years.
